Principles behind our care

Whether a Resident's stay is for a few days respite or on a permanent basis we aim to:

  • provide the highest possible standard of care to our Residents
  • have friendly, caring and efficient Nursing and Care staff who are available 24 hours a day
  • respect the dignity and privacy of residents whilst promoting their independence and choice
  • provide a warm, family orientated, comfortable and safe living environment which is as similar as possible to living at home
  • comply with best practice and all relevant regulations

Our work is always focused on the individual who requires care and support. Dignity, respect, understanding and sensitivity are all practised by our highly trained and committed carers who help to create a trusting and personal relationship with all those who come to us or live with us.

The residents looked after in the Group's home have many different typres of care needs which are set out below.

  • Residential Care - for people who need support and reassurance with their daily living 24 hours a day
  • Residential Nursing Care - a qualified nurse being on hand 24 hours a day
  • Resdiential EMI / Dementia Care - this is similar to the earlier two categories but is for residents who have additional needs, typically dementia or Alzheimers. This can be provided with or without nursing care depending on the needs of the resident.
  • Short-term Care - often described as respite care typically to give carers a break or help rehabiltate people coming out of hospital before they return home
  • End of Life Palliative Care - active care for residents whose conditions are not responding to treatment and are not expected to recover

Important considerations before admission

There are numerous matters to consider before moving into a residential or nursing home. The staff in all our homes will be happy to help you with the process and answer any of your questions. We strongly suggest that the starting point is to visit the home you are thinking of - either make an appointment or just turn up. By clicking on the link below you can find out more about:

  • Our admission process - which is to ensure that residents will fit into the homes and that their needs can be met
  • How placements are paid for - this can be very complicated as funding comes from a variety of sources and depends on the resdients financial situation
  • The inspections of homes by the Care Quatity Commission

Cuisine

Dining is a very important part of our lives and forms a focal point for our residents' days. People can choose to eat their meals in the dining room, the lounges or their bedrooms. For all meals we offer a number of choices, if there is something on the menu that is not to your taste an alternative will always be offered. Between meal times tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks are always available.

We use mainly local suppliers and the catering staff prepare all the meals (with the excpetion of fish and chips from the local chippy!!). The menus are designed to provide nutritional requirements and we check monthly for any weight change in individual residents. Individual requirements and tastes are taken into consideration and the menus are discussed at resident meetings.
