Deciding to go into residential care on either a short term or permanent basis is an extremly difficult decision. The staff in all our homes are more than happy to provide support and answer any questions they can. Details of how to get in touch with us are on the pages for the individual homes or the contact us page.
Some of the main points to consider before taking any decision are explained below.
Please feel free to visit the home of your choice - either call for an appointment or just drop in. It is vitally important that you see the home and meet some of the staff and residents. Also walking round the homes, speaking to the staff and residents as well as meeting the manager will give you a good understanding of the home, help awnser your questions and decide if it is the right place for you or your relative.
Our assessment is a vital part of the admission process. A qualified member of staff, often the home's manager, will meet you (and where relevant members of your family and medical staff) to run through some questions to see if we are able to meet all your needs and that we can look after you.
This process is very important as it enures we only accept residents into the home where we able to meet their needs, ensures we have got everything in place for the admission time and also because it forms the starting point of the development of a personalised care plan.
We do not charge for assesssments and they are undertaken without any obligation.
Paying for care is based on individual circumstances. We believe that everyone has the right to a high standard of care, and some people are able to receive contributions from their local authority or funding from the NHS depending on their needs and personal circumstances.
Depending on individual circumstances, a local authority might contribute to the cost of care. These rules are complicated and while we can assit you or your relatives will have to contact your local Council and meet with a Social Worker who will undertake a financial assessment.
NHS funding, either as partial or total payment of the cost might be available depending if an individual has a certain level of needs.
The care home sector is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who regularly inspect nursing homes. Our homes aim to exceed the required standards. You can find the most recent report for each of the homes by searching for the home (it is quicker if you choose to search in care homes).
The CQC website address is "http://www.cqc.org.uk/" or clicking on the button below.
